Eliminating Kidney Disease
The C Alan Foundation core mission is to improve strategies for kidney disease in reference to educational prevention and nutritional management. We understand that poverty, lack of insurance, and education are key components that must be addressed at a level where they can understand and make a difference. Our goal is to educate people on not just nutrition but how to change their mindset when it comes to a healthier lifestyle. How we change one’s environment and mental state in terms of food can improve one’s quality of life. Poor nutrition plays a critical role especially for those who desire transplantation. The goal is to prepare common foods that we enjoy without the guilt of unhealthy and poor eating practices.

The Community We Serve
Did You Know?
Did you know that Washington DC is 42.5% Black and has the highest rates of kidney disease in the country? Thirty five percent of people that suffer from kidney failure in the U.S. are black. The C. Alan Foundation was founded in our capitol city to curb the spread of CKD within our black community.
Delayed diagnosis is why 9 out of 10 people don’t even know they have kidney failure. The C Alan Foundation believes it is important to reach the, 18- to 30-year-old demographic to begin preventative measures such as working out, eating healthier, and cooking better
